Mahjong Lesson 3- 對對胡

對對胡 (3 fan)

Known in English as the triplets hand, this occurs when every meld in the winning hand is either a Pong or Kong. Variations allowing for Joker tiles will also permit melds of five or more, but disallow an all-Joker meld

Mahjong Lesson 2- "Chow"(上), "Pung"(碰)and "Kang" (槓)

A short and interactive tour to help you learn how to play mahjong

It is a demo for those who doesn't know how to play Mahjong. It takes only 15 minutes. Make sure you turn on your sound. Enjoy it!!!

Mahjong need to be play by 4 people in one table. Each player sit a side of a table which mean “East” , “North” , “West” and “South” . The first player who throws the dice will be the “East” . Mahjong game will be start will counter-clockwise, which continues by the second player which is “North”. But the tiles will be taking follows clockwise. Once the dices is throwing, player need to count the total number of the dices in order to start to take the tiles. Each player will need to take 3 times of 4 tiles with 12 tiles. After that, the first player needs to take 2 more tiles with jumping. What it mean by jumping, it means the first player need to take the first and third above tile, and then the second player will take one tile and following by third and forth player with taking one tile also.

The first player will have 14 tiles and the following players are 13 tiles. Why the first players have to take 14 tiles? This is because the first player will need to throw one of his/her unused tiles out on the table for the others player. Players can decide to “chow”(上) , “pung”(碰) and “kang”(槓) . But only the next player can “chow”(上) , the third and forth player can only “pung”(碰) and “kang”(槓) .

Below is the explanation of “chow”(上) , “pung”(碰) and “kang”(槓) :

“Chow”(上) : Consists of 3 tiles. Player need to use 2 of his/her tiles which need to be a sequence number of the tiles which throw by previous player and it must be in the same type.
“Pung”(碰) : Consist of 3 tiles. Player need to use 2 of his/her tiles which must be exact same type of tile.
“Kang”(槓) : Consist of 4 tiles. Player need to use 2 of his/her tiles which must be exact same type of tile.

Mahjong Lesson 1 (Mahjong Set)

Introduction

As the game spread through China different regions adopted the game, each with its own unique set of rules.
